ResourceSmart Schools Awards 2016 – Winners Announced!
Sustainability Victoria’s ResourceSmart School Awards were held on the 11th November, to honour the schools that entered this year’s program.
The Awards are aimed at primary and high schools throughout Victoria, encouraging children to design and implement innovative and creative ways to encourage more sustainable ways of living.
This year’s event was held in the IMAX Theatre Melbourne Museum, where teachers and students gathered from all over the state to celebrate the occasion. Mel and Michelle from Primary’s Teacher Liaison Team were in attendance, helping oversee the event.
“It’s been great seeing all of these innovative ideas come to life,” says Mel. “ Looking after the environment and looking for more sustainable ways to live is all of our responsibility, and it’s good to see kids understanding that from such a young age.”
“Big congratulations to Banyule Primary School for taking out the highest honour of ResourceSmart School of the year!”
Finalists and winners shared in cash prizes, with the first 50 entrants receiving an educational resource and the major overall winner receiving a solar panel installation from principal sponsor, Momentum Energy.
