Love Your Body Week – Take the Pledge

Body confidence is something to be celebrated – people come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and that’s something to be cherished. But unfortunately, eating disorders and body image concerns still present a considerable concern for males and females across Australia – it’s estimated 9% of Australians will experience an eating disorder during their lifetime.

For the past ten years, Sportsgirl and Butterfly Foundation have been working to combat this trend, joining forces to tackle eating disorders and negative body image by holding an annual awareness raising week each September, Body Image and Eating Disorders Awareness Week – now renamed Love Your Body Week – as well as daily fundraising by Sportsgirl in-store, driven by the sale of Butterfly merchandise. Love Your Body Week is a great opportunity to raise public awareness and build a dialogue around promoting healthy body image and body confidence.

Since 2008 Primary has worked closely with Butterfly to raise awareness in the community, as well as through the media and the government, about body image and eating disorders. We are proud to support Love Your Body Week.

Here are three simple ways that you can get involved and make a positive difference:

  1. TAKE THE PLEDGE – make a commitment to learning how to love your body every day!
  2. TAKE THE SURVEY – tell us what you think about body image
  3. TAKE A PICTURE & POST – share how you celebrate body confidence with the community via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram throughout the week! #loveyourbodyweek. Remember to link to @thebutterflyfoundation and @sportsgirl so that we can create a groundswell of support across social media!
